Capital Cities – Safe and Sound

LA-based Capital Cities has an interesting backstory. The duo, comprised of Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian, began working together as composers for advertisements. If “Safe and Sound,” off of the band’s self-titled EP, is anything like the album, then I’m in shock. Apparently, the album will contain some discarded tunes they composed together serve as inspiration for the project. Although it’s gotten better recently with advertising departments paying closer attention to music blogs, there’s no doubt I’d rather be hearing this on my television then half of the crap on it currently. From the blaring trumpets to the smooth synths, “Safe and Sound” is an awesome display of electro-pop, and if you like it check the rest of the EP here. [via]
